Cassava Technologies, an African technology enterprise founded by Zimbabwean telecoms mogul Strive Masiyiwa, has announced plans to establish Africa’s first AI Factory. This initiative, in collaboration with U.S.-based tech giant NVIDIA, aims to provide advanced artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure across the continent.
The AI Factory will be a state-of-the-art data center equipped with NVIDIA’s accelerated computing technology and AI software. Cassava intends to deploy these resources using NVIDIA Cloud Partner (NCP) reference architectures at its data centers in South Africa by June 2025, with subsequent expansions planned in Egypt, Kenya, Morocco, and Nigeria.
