Gavin Glover Sworn In as Attorney General of Mauritius

Mr. Gavin Patrick Cyril Glover officially assumed the role of Attorney General this evening after taking the Oath of Allegiance and the Oath of Office, in line with section 67 of the Constitution. The ceremony took place at the State House in Réduit, overseen by the President of Mauritius, Mr. Prithvirajsing Roopun, and attended by Prime Minister Dr. Navinchandra Ramgoolam and other distinguished guests.

Prime Minister Dr. Ramgoolam lauded Mr. Glover’s extensive legal expertise and years of practice, expressing confidence in his ability to serve with integrity and provide sound legal counsel to the Government. He emphasized the Attorney General’s critical role in offering independent legal advice to the State.

In his remarks, Mr. Glover expressed gratitude for his appointment and shared his commitment to revitalize the Attorney General’s Office, steering it toward a more impartial and non-political direction. He highlighted the Chagos Archipelago issue as a top priority, alongside other matters of national significance.
